Stay informed by subscribing to legitimate news sources, including your local newspaper, nationally recognized newspapers and local politicians’ e-newsletters. Recognize fake news by researching the news source.
Regularly write letters to the editor. Effective letters to the editor should get to the point quickly in 250 words. Be sure to mention your local politicians by name.

Join an activist group that aligns with your values. Typical political groups include the League of Women Voters, your local Democratic Club or Republican Club. Look within your own church or neighborhood for other opportunities to become involved.
